There are many situations were you may need to use a MEWP to carry out works on trees. This course allows you to learn to do this safely. You must be an experienced Chainsaw user to develop your skills in the MEWP. Upon succesfully completing a verbal and practical assessment you will achieve a Level 3 Award Use of a Chainsaw from a Mobile Elevated Work Platform. There are 2 dedicated days for training and 1 day for Assessment

Description

During in this course, you will cover:

  • How to deal with emergency situations affecting operators working from a MEWP.
  • How to operate a chainsaw from a MEWP.
  • Health and safety and industry good practice

Units covered in qualification:

  • Level 3 Award Use of a Chainsaw from a Mobile Elevated Work Platform

Before starting this course, you must have already Acquired:

  • Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance
  • Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Cross-cut Timber Using a Chainsaw
  • Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm

Or

  • Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting
  • Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm

You must also have valid MEWP certification for the type of machine being used.

Course Specific Notes

You will need to bring:


    • A form of photo ID either valid driving licence or passport.
    • Non snag clothing suitable for all weather as you will be outside
    • Climbing helmet incorporating face and hearing protection with a chin strap
    • Chainsaw trousers, type c
    • Chainsaw boots
    • Gloves - BS EN 381-7
    • Non-snag clothing

 If you have access to your own MEWP, we recomend using this as this will give you the best possible experience.
