Develop your skills further with a course that teaches you new cutting techniques to fell and process larger trees. The course is designed for experienced Chainsaw users and on completion you will walk away from this course with updated skills ready for you to work on larger trees. After a practical and verbal assessment, successful candidates will receive a Level 3 Award in Felling and Processing trees over 380mm
There are 3 dedicated days for training and for 1 day for assessment. Number of candidates per course: 4
Description
During in this course, you will cover:
- Assess the trees to be felled for hazards and risks
- Fell trees over 380mm/15”
- Assess a leaning tree and the safest method of felling
- Make accurate felling cuts in the correct positions
- De-limb felled trees in a safe and methodical manner
- Cross-cut timber accurately to required lengths
- Assess and explain the terms tension and compression in timber
- And much more

After succesfully completing the assessment element of this course, you will achieve a Level 3 Award in Felling and Processing trees over 380mm
Before starting this course, you must have already Acquired:
- Chainsaw maintenance
- Cross-cutting Timber using a Chainsaw
- Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm
Is it recommended that you are an experienced user with experience before starting this course.
Worth noting: As there are physical elements to our course, you'll need to have at least a minimum level of fitness

Course Specific Notes
You will need to bring:
A form of photo ID either valid driving licence or passport.
Arborist Helmet, complete with full mesh face shield and visor also ear defenders conform to 31SNR rating
Chainsaw Boots
Chainsaw trousers with a minimum of Class 1 protection and a minimum of Type A coverage
Non snag Clothing suitable for all weather as you will be outside
Gloves – BS EN 381 – 7
Personal First Aid Kit
Whistle
We recommend bringing your own Chainsaw and Maintenance Kit. This will give the best possible experience. Any climbing kit will need to have a current LOLER certificate.
