The ROLO Manager courses have been developed by the British Association of Landscape Industries and offer an alternative route in achieving the Land-based industry skills scheme (LISS) and/or the Construction skills certification scheme (CSCS). This courses have been approved fully by the CSCS and Build UK as being equivalent to the CITB SMSTS courses and will provide the only route for practicing Supervisors and Managers in the land-based industry to achieve their LISS/CSCS cards. Please note that as of 1st April 2022 the correct level ROLO course will be a requirement for Manager level cards. Dates indicated are the start date. Please contact the office for full details.

Description

ROLO (Register of Land-based Operations) is recognised by Build UK as one of the leading Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness Courses in the UK, designed exclusively for the Land-based industries by landscaping professionals.
ROLO was developed and is owned by the British Association of Landscape Industries to raise the standard of health and safety,  environmental awareness, and reduce the risk of accidents in the workplace. It also encourages employers to keep a record of workers in the Land-based sector who have achieved a recognised level of competence.

This is a blended learning course with around 0.5-1 day of prelearning to be completed at your convenience prior to the course start and 3 days of face to face learning with our experienced instructor. In order to access the prelearning it is recommended that you have access to a computer or tablet. 

ROLO is a prerequisite for anyone applying for a LISS/CSCS SmartCard. Certificates are valid for five years, but applicants must ensure the course has been completed within the last two years when applying for a LISS/CSCS SmartCard. Before the five years runs out, the relevant refresher course can be completed.

Course Specific Notes

This course is assessed through an end of unit multiple choice paper, verbal presentation, and group work. If you feel that you have a disability that may inhibit your access to this course, either with the training or assessment, please let us know by calling or emailing the office on 03330 151152 or [email protected]. 

This is a blended learning course. For those who do not already have a ROLO-online account:

  • On receiving these joining instructions, candidates should register on www.rolo-online.org.uk.Please note that there have been some issues with gmail accounts. If there is a delay of more than 24 hours in receiving your confirmation email, please contact us directly.
  • You will receive a confirmation/validation email through to your email account. Please follow the link to verify your registration.
  • If there are any issues with gmail please contact [email protected] immediately for further instructions.
  • Once registered, please email [email protected] to confirm that you have registered.
  • We will then email you to confirm that you have successfully registered for the course. You can then access the online e-learning element.

All candidates must have completed this prior to the course starting. It is a pre-requisite that candidates have completed all end of unit tests and the final mock assessment. It is anticipated that his should take between 3-6 hours dependent on experience. VMT offer a face to face half day session to support this.

Please note, if pre-learning has not been completed, you will not be able to undertake your face-to-face learning and will lose your place on the course.
