A 3 day integrated assessment course to enable the candidate to understand the Stationary Rope Technique for Tree Climbing. As such you will look at a range of skills and knowledge required to develop climbing techniques and carry out SRT rescue methods.

Description

Course objectives:

  • Understand the SRT for Tree Climbing.
  • Identify a range of PPE appropriate for tree climbing.
  • Identify hazards and manage the associated risks.
  • Carry out visual tree inspections.
  • Carry out pre-use inspection of tree climbing equipment
  • Choose appropriate anchor points.
  • Use techniques for safe and effecient ascent and descent.
  • Establish safe and comfortable work positions.
  • Carry out SRT rescue methods.

You must have achieved the below course before booking SRT:

Level 2 Award in Accessing a Tree Using a Rope and Harness and Level 3 Award in Aerial Tree Rescue Operations

Course Specific Notes

Please bring with you:

  • A form of photo ID either valid driving license or passport.
  • Non snag clothing suitable for all weather as you will be outside. ·        
  • Safety helmet conforming to EN 397 or EN 12492 ·        
  • Eye Protection – Mesh visor complying with EN1731 or Safety Glasses EN 166 ·        
  • Chainsaw Protective Trousers are recommended but robust workwear trousers are suitable. ·        
  • Chainsaw Protective Boots are highly recommended as you will be provided with spikes, but boots with ankle support and good grip are suitable. ·        
  • Gloves suitable for rope work, Showa 310 are highly recommended. ·        
  • All PPE must be CE/UKCA marked.

When bringing your own kit, you will need to show proof of a full and in date LOLER examination of all equipment to be used.

Also please ensure the harness is fitted with a personal First Aid Kit, and you also have a handsaw or a knife with retractable blade.


Important Information:

Joining instructions will be sent around 7-14 days before the course starts and will contain full details of location, equipment and course timings.

Please note that lunch is not provided.
