A three day refresher course to keep you updated with any new skills that are needed to reflect any changes to best climbing practice as laid out in the new Technical Guidance 1: Tree climbing and aerial rescue.

Description

Our course will revisit the appropriate techniques and safety guidelines to ensure you're confident across all three activities.

The training is delivered by experienced instructors to small groups, so you'll receive plenty of individual attention.

And we work closely with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to ensure our materials reflect current safe working practices.

Course sessions:

  • HSE legislation and safety guidelines
  • Tree climbing equipment
  • Rope configurations
  • Tree access
  • Final anchor point and work positioning
  • Light branch removal
  • Use of flip line and climbing irons
  • Aerial rescue
  • Preparing a chainsaw for use in a tree
  • Securing the work position
  • Cutting techniques.
  • Clearing site and equipment checks

Course Specific Notes

You will need to bring:

  • A form of photo ID either valid driving licence or passport.
  • Arborist Helmet, complete with a chin strap, full mesh face shield or visor, and suitable ear defenders
  • Chainsaw Boots.
  • Chainsaw trousers with a minimum of Class 1 protection and a minimum of Type C coverage.
  • Non snag clothing suitable for all weather as you will be outside.
  • Gloves suitable for rope work, Showa 310 are highly recommended.

We recommend bringing your own Chainsaw, Maintenance Kit, Pruning Saw and Climbing equipment.

This will give the best possible experience. When bringing your own kit, you will need to show proof of a full and in date LOLER inspection of all equipment to be used.

If you are bringing your own climbing equipment, please ensure the harness is fitted with a personal First Aid Kit, and you also have a handsaw or a knife with retractable blade.


Important Information:

Joining instructions will be sent around 7-14 days before the course starts and will contain full details of location, equipment and course timings.

Please note that lunch is not provided.

For all Refresher courses you will need to provide a copy of the original qualification certificate before you can take part on the day.

All courses are non transferable and non refundable from the point of sale or issued proforma.
